Today has just been one giant Northern Exposure kind of day. I’m too tired and too tuckered out at the moment to recount the full story. The short version is, I’ve been trying to book a venue for a celebratory meal for our trip. After talking with the same venue for over two months, and with just 10 days to go until departure, I STILL don’t have the location, meal or pricing finalized. I spent a great portion of yesterday and today trying to finalize details. Oh the drama of planning a dinner! For those of you who don’t coordinate events for a living, this sort of thing is generally pretty straight forward. It entails a phone call to venue to book the date and time, followed up by a rough sketch of the meal or event. From this, the vendor provides a price and you accept or adjust or move on. Once you’ve got that nailed down, you usually create a very detailed document that will go through all the particulars of the menu or the presentation, or whatever. If you get an experienced restaurateur on the other end, you can do this in a few hours, or certainly a few days. There may be some last minute tweaks as you get nearer to the date, but rarely does it ever take two freakin’ months! Arg… And of course, this is all happening in a nice little town with a total of three dining options, one of which is the Masonic Hall.
So, I’m a bit stressed and my stomach is twisted in knots. I thought my brilliant co-worker's drawing was just the perfect thing to illustrate today’s entry.
